Shearwater Resort & Marina on Denny Island
We had a very long 72 hours after we left Butedale (we will tell more in the upcoming blog). It was a big relief when we arrived on Denny Island at Shearwater Resort & Marina. Keith, the hotel manager, had already prepared a room for us and left the key ready to be pick up upon our arrival at 4a.m. After a warm shower, we crashed in the comfortable bed.
Shearwater Resort & Marina is a fantastic place to be. We were so impressed when we walked around after our sleep. There is everything here from lodging, RV & Campground Park, marina, restaurant, hardware store, grocery store, post office, liquor store, laundromat, showers, coffee shop, free wifi, etc. It’s like a small town where everything is in walking distance. People are really friendly and want to help you. For example, when we arrived, we were wet. It has been raining and snowing a lot during our travel. Keith found a heated place for us to hang all our stuff. In no time, everything was dry again.
We met with people traveling by boat and sailboat. They said Shearwater is a must. We agree. Even if it’s the low season (winter time), the place is booming. It would be nice to come back during summer time and when the fishing season is on. Shearwater offer fishing adventures and eco-adventure. It is also located in the Great Bear Rainforest. There is a ferry that runs from Shearwater to Bella Bella all day and there is also the BC Ferry terminal. Everything has been thought to make your stay comfortable.
